Newbern FBC is a strongly mission-minded church, focusing on how we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to our community, our county, our state, and our world. In our local area, we have built wheel chair ramps, cleaned yards, painted houses, delivered meals to families, helped at the Tennessee Baptist Boys Ranch, and found creative ways to share God’s love with those in need. We have also helped Habitat for Humanity build a house close to our church and taken part in Mission Blitz each spring, joining with churches all over Dyer County to serve those around us.
In the fall of 2016 and 2017 our church took a trip to Hayti, Missouri to partner with First Baptist Church Hayti in building wheel chair ramps, cleaning up yards, delivering meals to families, and repairing the fences at the city’s softball fields.
We also feel a deep calling to follow the Great Commission and spread God’s love beyond our little corner of the world. In addition to participating in Operation Christmas Child (we sent over 125 boxes worldwide in 2017 alone), we have taken multiple mission teams overseas. In 2015 we took our first international mission trip to El Salvador with 19 people. We built 1 home and ministered to countless orphans while sharing God’s love. In 2016 we took a second trip to El Salvador and had the opportunity to build two more homes and minister to more kids in the orphanage centers.
In July of 2017 we traveled to a remote area in Guatemala, where we ministered to hundreds of children in elementary and middle schools and worked on building a church in a mountain village. We returned to that same area in July of 2018 with a team of 15, where we shared the gospel with over 1000 kids and saw many choose to begin a relationship with Christ.
